​INTRODUCTION

U.S. Professional Snowboarder, multiple-time World Cup finalist, and AM300 Warrior Athlete Josh Bowman sits with Jesse Stewart to discuss mentorship, leadership, and plans after completing his Doctorate at Baylor University.

PART ONE: THE MENTOR EXPERIENCE

Part one of the podcast reflects on Jesse’s experience as a mentor from start to finish, focusing on the experiences after submitting the Mentoring Circle Midpoint Individual Reflection and considering the course as a whole.​

  • (11:00): The most valuable aspects of the mentoring course.

  • (12:00): Personal growth observed throughout this term and specific aspects that helped foster that growth.

  • (13:00): Opportunities for improvement for developing and training mentors.

  • (14:00): Discussion on how the course readings, assignments, and book selected for the mentoring development plan (Discipline Equals Freedom by Jocko Willink) assisted in personal growth and development.

  • (15:00): Discussion on any potential gaps in topics that should have been addressed.

  • (16:00): Discussion on mentoring within the military and professional sports. 

PART TWO: THE IMPACT EXPERIENCE

Part two reflects on the culmination of Jesse’s experience as part of the IMPACT Mentoring Program.

  • (20:00):  Discussion on the experience with the IMPACT Mentoring Program experience and Peer Leadership Team assessment.  

  • (21:00):  Discussion of the IMPACT Mentoring Program's strengths and opportunities for improvement.

  • (22:00):  Application of lessons learned during IMPACT to strengthen the AM300 mentoring program (Workplace Mentoring Program Project).

  • (23:00):  Discussion of Josh’s perceptions on the mentoring experience within professional snowboarding.

PART THREE: THE NEXT CHAPTER​​

 

Part three explores Jesse’s plan to harness the skills developed in this course after graduation and continue to grow and develop as a mentor and a leader.

  • (30:00): Plans for launching the AM300 Warrior Athlete Mentoring Program.

  • (31:00): Discussion on maintaining relationships with mentees from the IMPACT mentoring program.

  • (32:00): Discussion on continued growth and development as a mentor and a leader.
